Learning map work skills was one of the lessons recently taught to Grade 4 learners of Christ Church Preparatory School and College under the subject of social science.
In this activity, learners were taught about the various features on a map and were tasked with researching a country. They were each given a country and had to find it on a map.
Dawn Schmitz, the marketing manager of Christ Church, said learners had to decide if the country was in the northern hemisphere, southern hemisphere, or on the equator, and what continent it fell under.
Each learner had to research the capital city, the name of the president, the national food, the languages spoken, and three interesting facts about the country and they had to draw and colour the flag of the country given.
The school displayed the learner’s map work research outside the Grade 4 classrooms for the entire school to see. Well done to all the Grade 4s for the hard work, Schmitz concluded.
