DA in Ward 132 protests over exorbitant fuel price, commuters sign petition

Ward 132 councillor Annete Deppe said the fuel price petition was signed by about 114 people and will be sent to the DA's national office.

The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe led a two-hour protest against the skyrocketing fuel price.

Deppe said the fuel price was rising to stratospheric levels. “If we don’t do anything about this fuel price, then the poor are most likely to go to bed on an empty stomach. The fuel price is now at its record high and all motorists can feel the pinch of these unnecessary and uncalculated increases.”
About 20 DA supporters held protest placards while motorists driving by hooted in solidarity.

Pedestrians passing by were requested to sign a petition in protest against the fuel price, which will be handed over to the relevant government authorities.
