The Rabie Ridge Police Station urges the public to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of six armed suspects.
According to station spokesperson Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, the complainant reported that while on duty with his two colleagues, an unknown truck parked in front of the gate at the premises in Midrand around 21:58 on July 27.
Moremi said the two of the guards were in the guardroom when the truck arrived. A fourth guard entered the guardhouse and warned them of the danger. The guard was followed reportedly into the guardhouse by two armed men. “The suspects instructed them to lie on the floor and robbed them of their Huawei cellphones and wallets to the value of R3 500,” said Moremi.
She said four other suspects, also with firearms, entered the guardhouse and told their accomplices that they had to leave urgently. “[It is believed] that the suspects had gained access to the premises through a hole in the fence. All suspects were wearing masks. No shots [were] fired and no injuries sustained.”
Moremi urged members of the community who may have any information to come forward, adding that an informant’s identity will never be revealed to anyone.
