The Station Commander of the Midrand Police Brigadier Molefi David Tsotsotso has welcomed the arrest of two suspects who allegedly caused havoc in the Midrand area.
Station spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane said the suspects were found with an unlicensed firearm, bullets and stolen items and were arrested for possession. “Police received a tip-off on July 23 around 08:30 from an informant about the suspects. Back-up was called to assist in apprehending suspects. The suspects were arrested on the corner of 3rd and Invicta roads with a red Fiat Punto used in a commission of a crime.”
Mabulane said the recovered items are believed to have been taken from a robbery scene after two complainants identified two wedding rings and two cellphones.
Tsotsotso said the suspects will undergo a security vetting process to see if they are not linked with other crimes relating to robberies within the Midrand area. “These suspects are now known to have been terrorising the resident of Midrand and motorists [through] armed robberies.”
