Athelets put best foot forward

Roosevelt High School wins the inter-high school D league competition.

It was a race to the finish when Roosevelt High School hosted the Inter-High School D league competitions.

The school’s B team athletes went up against A teams from St Barnabas High School and Midrand High School. There, each athlete either participated in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and relay races.

The winners of the event was the home team, who, according to the school’s deputy principal, Henk Ferreira, won by far.

“We are very proud of their performance and look forward to them moving to a higher league come next year,” said Ferreira.

Each of the school’s runners put their best foot forward and gave each race the sort of physical and mental momentum needed to reach the finish line.

By the end of the league event, each school’s two top-performing athletes were chosen to go on and participate at the Prestige Athletics and there, all various leagues will run against each other to see who will make it to compete in the ultimate race which is the Provincial Competition.
