Local author launches her second book
Multi-talented author Sibonile Dube says women empowerment starts with them supporting one another.
A ‘pink noise’ was made by attendees who graced Sibonile Dube’s book launch wearing bright pink attires.
The Vorna Valley-based author launched her second book, Pink Noise during a women’s breakfast at Midridge Park’s Plantation Cafe on September 3.

Among those present were renowned football administrator Ria Ledwaba and media entrepreneur Olwethu Leshabane.

Dube (46) said the idea of the morning was to inspire women to use their voices to change the narrative in their spaces and both guests [Ledwaba and Leshabane] were living testimonies that it was possible.

She said, “The book looks at how women evolve. We need to continuously make an impact in the spaces by making our voices heard and not to disappear into the horizon of gender inequality, patriarchy and personal securities.”
She said as a passionate writer, she harboured ambitions of writing her third book and many others to follow.

In 2020, during the Covid-19 outbreak, Dube released her first book, Climbing the Hill on Heels.

Speaking about the attendance at the launch, Dube said she was deeply humbled by the level of support she had received.
“This just goes to show we need to debunk the myth that women are not supportive of one another.”
