Agape honours different cultures
The church acknowledges the importance of Heritage Month as they believe that our heritage affects our identity.
Over the past 10 years, a local church, Agape Family Church has celebrated Heritage Month every Sunday in September.
The church went above and beyond, this year, to celebrate Heritage Month by inviting families to bring their favourite traditional food to share with other cultures.

Every Sunday had a theme of two cultures, including African cultures. It was not mandatory for everyone to wear a specific cultural theme, as long as they wore traditional clothing.
The congregants dressed up in traditional regalia to celebrate the diverse cultures of South Africa’s rainbow nation.

Antonia Udeh, media liaison for the church said, “Who we are, according to our culture and who we are in Christ, has great implications for all we do in life, and how we apply our faith.”

Through celebrating heritage, churches strive to expose and encourage children, especially youth, to appreciate and preserve diverse cultures and values while encouraging them to value their own.
“To us, Heritage Day is all about unity because Jesus’ ministry was all about unity, harmony, and compassion. It’s important to recognise what unites us rather than what divides us. As a church, we are grateful to God that he has blessed our nation with diverse cultures, therefore, it is a divine calling for us at Agape to respect, value, understand, and be appreciative of other cultures.”
