A special assembly was held on February 10 at Summerhill College with guests from the non-profit organisation, Umusa Foundation.
The special assembly was organised so that the college could donate items to the organisation as part of the school’s effort to give back to the community.
The project was spearheaded by teacher at the school, Hastings Mpofu.
Headmaster Calla Niemand said a collection of 84 pairs of shoes, hundreds of books, and textbooks as well as unused old uniforms were donated to Umusa with contributions from the learners.
The donations were handed over to Quedene Prins, the director of the foundation that supports underprivileged schools.
“We are very proud to be able to be part of this amazing initiative and give back to the community,” concluded Niemand.
