Experienced Glen Austin High School teacher wins district educator award

"This is my second award for teaching engineering." One of her former learners obtained a distinction under her tutelage, in 2019 from Landulwazi High School.

After winning the Johannesburg East District award, Glen Austin High School teacher, Sibonakliso Ndlovu is ecstatic that she is reaping the rewards of her hard work.

Ndlovu won the top achieving educator for her subject Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD).

She has been a teacher for 13 years and adds that the award will make her work harder to maintain her reputation.
“Personally, it makes me feel proud of myself that the work I put in paid off. Professionally, being acknowledged at this level can bring new opportunities. It is a great motivation,” said Ndlovu.

She acknowledged that it does add pressure because she obviously wants to maintain high standards.

Ndlovu received the news at a staff meeting.“I was very ecstatic but I was not shocked since a part of me knew that I had done very well. I have been at Glen Austin for two years now from 2021”.

Ndlovu previously worked at Jabulani Technical School in Soweto between 2010 and 2011, before joining Kwabekilanga High School in Alexandra and Landulwazi High School in Thokoza respectively.

“This is my second award for teaching engineering. I have a learner who received a distinction in the 2019 matric results at Landulwazi High School,” concluded Ndlovu.
