Ward 132 councillor warn shutdown planners about the consequences of breaking the law
Ward 132 Councillor Annette Deppe has assured Midrand residents that their safety is guaranteed.
She was responding to the much-publicised national shutdown planned for March 20.
Deppe said no one will be allowed to violate people’s rights by invading their properties, schools and public health facilities.
“I would like to make it abundantly clear that if these cadres step on any private property you are allowed to refuse entry, ‘Right to Admission Reserved’ ”.
Deppe said she has already requested a heavier police presence at various venues in Ward 132.
Meanwhile, the Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni also issued a statement in response to the planned protest action.
The statement outlined that members of the South African Police Services, JMPD and private security will be on standby to step in if protests get out of hand.
“All government services will be available and operating as normal. These include schools, health facilities, and any other public environment as it is a normal working day for all South Africans.”
In conclusion, Deppe said, “If anyone tries to shut down any business and break the law in my ward, then they will be arrested and will spend a night in a holding cell”.
