Rising star secures 4th place in National Netball Championship

Tshwarelo Chiloane make her mark in the U19 squad at the Telkom Netball Championships.

Tshwarelo Chiloane represented the Johannesburg District Netball Association as she was part of the Johannesburg District U19 squad.

The Love Trust learner took 4th place in the Telkom Netball Championships game that took place on July 9 to 14 in Cape Town.

Tshwarelo’s path to success wasn’t without its fair share of challenges. Determined to excel, she dedicated countless hours to honing her skills on the court and attending rigorous training sessions. Early mornings, late nights, and balancing academics with her passion for netball became the norm for the young athlete. Supported by her family and mentors, Tshwarelo displayed unwavering commitment and perseverance, making her way up the ranks in district tournaments.

Tshwarelo struggled with not having enough financial support, but the local netball star never allowed that to discourage her from working on her goal of being the best young netball player in South Africa.

The Love Trust initiative and community members raised funds for Tshwarelo to participate in the Netball championships game through the BackaBuddy funding platform.

This is a proud moment for the Love Trust initiative as they see the outcomes of helping those who need assistance in building their future.

Tshwarelo’s performance was exceptional during the tournament. She led the team with conviction and displayed remarkable sportsmanship and camaraderie. Despite the intense pressure she got in the field, she was undaunted and determined to make her mark on the national records.

Tshwarelo said she is proud of herself as setting goals for what she wants really helped her prepare for the championship games. She said she also aspires to secure more positions in the national games.

Sharing her future goals, Tshwarelo said she would like to be one of the best South African netball coaches as she can see that her talent in the sports field is what she is bound to be in the future.
