City of Ekurhuleni’s empty promise to fix the Dale Road trench not fulfilled
City of Ekurhuleni was asked on August 28 and 29, if they were intending to apply for the Service Level Agreement to have Johannesburg Road Agency repairing the potholes on the busy road, but did not respond.

City of Ekurhuleni’s promise to fix the Dale Road trench in Glen Austin by September 8 has not been fulfilled.
On September 6, Ekurhuleni’s spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said, “The team is aware of the leak and requires welding. The repairs will be finalised before the end of this week.”
This meant they would have fixed the trench by September 8. However, a week later, Midrand Reporter went to investigate if the pipe had been welded and the trench had been fixed, but only to find that it still existed.
On September 18, the paper saw motorists who use this road still faced with traffic and evading potholes. For over two months now, the trench that has been there was caused by a leaking pipe belonging to the City of Ekurhleni.

On August 28 and 29, the city was asked if they intended to apply for the Service Level Agreement to have Johannesburg Road Agency repair the potholes on the busy road but did not respond.
The road is lined with muddy potholes and a portion of the one lane is filled with concrete for motorists to use to pass simultaneously.
It has been there for about for about four months and Ward 92 councillor, Charmaine Ngoepe acknowledged that the trench was not looking good and it needed ‘urgent attention.’
Attempts to get an update from Ekurhleni proved futile regarding what might have led to the delay in fixing the trench.
