230 Department of Health and Wellness staff graduate from the Tools for Life programme
230 Department of Health and Wellness staff graduate from the skills development programme in Castle Kyalami.

A total of 230 employees of the Gauteng Department of Health and Wellness and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) recently graduated from a skills development programme called Tools for Life.
The programme was delivered by the Scientology Volunteer Ministers at Castle Kyalami, as part of an employee wellness and empowerment partnership approved by the MEC for Gauteng Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko.
The graduates were trained to be better equipped to handle the various traumas they face almost daily.
Participants came from Gauteng Health and Wellness, EMS, chaplaincy, and faith-based organisations.

They worked hard to learn practical skills such as assistance for illnesses and injuries, conflict resolution, goal achievement, successful relations, public relations, financial ethics, overcoming drug abuse, and many more skills needed to improve the current conditions of South Africa.
Nkomo-Ralehoko congratulated the graduates on November 3, at Castle Kyalami for their hard work and dedication, acknowledging the lifesaving work they do every day.
“Today we recognise your hard work and dedication and also recognise all the lifesaving work you do on a daily basis. We are committed to creating a better society and I want to thank this partnership with the Scientology Volunteer Ministers for their selflessness and humanitarian intervention to equip my staff with tools to bring change to society,” said the MEC as she congratulated her staff on completing the programme.
“Today we are graduating 230 people that are working in the department but there is still more to come as over 700 have been trained and we are looking forward to their graduation. I have heard from them that this training has brought change in their lives and this needs to be done on a broad scale.”
Sandile Hlayisi, chairperson of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, who conducted the training sessions, expressed his pride in the graduates, saying they have joined 23 000 other South Africans who are using these skills to better their society.
Hlayisi emphasised that this partnership with the Department of Health is an example of what can be achieved when society works together to tackle common issues.
