Neels Conradie elected VVRA chairperson
The newly elected VVRA committee wants to address power, water and security challenges as a starting point.
In a bid to revive the Vorna Valley Residents Association (VVRA), the association elected four community members to executive positions within the committee.
The four executive members along with the remaining seven current members will now collectively serve the community.
Neels Conradie was elected as the chairperson and will be assisted by Tshegofatso Thejane as deputy chairperson. The secretary role will be assumed by Lorè de Bernier while Mark Candasamy will serve as the association’s treasurer.
Anil Chintamameni, Faheem February, Kamanie Moodley, Paul Veltman, Pratap Kumar Papineni, Sandheera Padayachee and Varushka Singh will be the seven other members.
This happened on November 27 during the VVRA meeting where it was also agreed that power and water concerns were among the pressing issues that urgently need to be tackled. The association will also monitor closely the security issues, especially during this time of the season, and focus on restoring security cameras to full functionality.
Newly elected chairperson, Conradie said the committee entrusted him with the role during this rebuilding phase, underlining their dedication to fostering a unified and inclusive community.
“Together, as a collective, we aim to address the community-wide challenges. The position of chairperson should not be seen differently from any other; it is a chance to collaborate with our current committee and the broader community to improve our suburb. I feel privileged to be part of a service-oriented group, free from glamour or glory. Our primary objective is to work hand-in-hand with the community and government stakeholders to collectively enhance our suburb,” said Conradie.
He said past actions of the previous exco are of little consequence, but they must learn from them because their success depends on the entire community’s involvement.
Conradie added, “We are not a ‘one-man band.’ The dedication and commitment of all 11 members will undoubtedly contribute to the betterment of the Vorna Valley and Kyalami Hills community. With a robust and diverse committee, comprised of volunteers with varied business skills and expertise, we rely on community support. As a committee, we value constructive feedback and are receptive to criticism. Let’s talk and, more importantly, work together to make Vorna Valley great.”
The VVRA further urged residents to attend an upcoming vital meeting once the details are communicated. Details regarding this crucial meeting and the proposed solutions will be communicated to residents in due course
He concluded that community involvement and cooperation will be invaluable as they work towards resolving these issues and enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
