Hijacked vehicle recovered by JMPD in Kaalfontein in Midrand

JMPD TRU officers received a lookout of a van that was hijacked in Centurion at gunpoint with the tracker coordinates leading them to a location in Midrand.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit (TRU) officers recently recovered a van that was hijacked in Centurion at gunpoint with the tracker coordinates pointing to a location in Midrand.

While conducting crime prevention patrols the TRU officers were alerted through voice notes and texts by joint tracking companies about a white Mercedes-Benz panel van that was hijacked in Centurion at gunpoint.

It was further alleged that all four suspects were armed, and that the vehicle was travelling towards Midrand or Tembisa according to the JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla.

“A search for the vehicle was conducted and while travelling along Allandale Road in Midrand the officers received the tracking coordinates of the vehicle which indicated that it was in Kaalfontain,” Fihla explained.

The officers followed up on the tracking coordinates and recovered the vehicle abandoned with four computer servers and boxes inside upon arrival at the location.

Fihla concluded that they were on the lookout for the suspects.
