Kyalami Karate students were rewarded at the 2024 Shotokan-ZA Annual Awards. Sensei Mari du Preez could not help but beam with pride after the students received their certificates for the hard work they put.
Shotokan-ZA (SZA) is the school’s annual awards which were held on February 10. The awards aimed to celebrate achievements of the 2022 and the 2023 calendar years.

“I am so proud of the Kyalami students’ achievements! The SZA colours and trophies are given to students based on the most accumulated points throughout the year and it is fantastic to see their hard work, discipline, resilience and dedication paying off and being recognised,” said du Preez.
The awards had nine categories which included Dan certificates presented to seniors, Viksha Mistri (Shodan/1st Dan) and Morrie Swart (Sandan/3rd Dan) for the year 2022 while Kritvi Mistri (Shodan/1st Dan), Drienie Swart (Nidan/2nd Dan), Bryce Hornby (Sandan/3rd Dan) and Mari du Preez (Yondan/4th Dan) got theirs for 2023.
