In the latest round-up of weekly activities, sports took centre stage with a variety of events showcasing talent, teamwork, and determination among students. Here’s a look at some of the exciting happenings in sports around the area:

Parents of Midrand Royals netball team players gathered for a meet-and-greet session on February 17. The event not only allowed parents to get to know each other but also engage in various exercises, including intense aerobics sessions. Parent liaison officer Cynthia Raseboya facilitated the session, addressing parents’ concerns and suggestions, with positive feedback indicating a desire for future events tailored for parents.

FootGolf South Africa partnered with Disabled Youth South Africa for the Flagship Open and Silent Pro FootGolf Tournament. Learners with impaired hearing from various schools showcased their skills, with Junior Mphoti and Zandile Mhlungu emerging as winners in their categories. The tournament highlighted the inclusivity and talent within the FootGolf community, with plans to send players to the French Open Masters next year.

Kyalami Karate students were celebrated at the Shotokan-ZA Annual Awards, recognising their hard work and achievements in the discipline. Sensei Mari du Preez commended the students for their dedication and discipline, with awards presented in various categories based on points accumulated throughout the year. The awards ceremony also celebrated the students who represented South Africa at international karate championships.

Midrand Royals netball team played a friendly match against Clayville Netball Club, showcasing skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Head coach Thato Pieterse emphasised the importance of fostering camaraderie and player growth within the local netball community.
