Midrand Royals Netball Club start slow in the Gauteng Netball Super League
Midrand Royals Netball Club starts slow in the Gauteng Netball Super League.

The Midrand Royals Netball Club Over 40 squad is a team that is committed to improving their game and strengthening their skills.
In a recent test of their abilities, they competed against the Scorpions and the Vaal Legends during the Gauteng Netball Super League. Unfortunately, they lost both games, with scores of 8–37 and 14–34, respectively.

The Gauteng Netball Super League is dedicated to transforming township sports and bringing out the best in latent talent.
The league returned this year, with all divisions participating in the first encounters that took place on March 2–3 at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

Despite being in the building phase, the Midrand Royals saw registering for this league as an opportunity to hone their skills and develop as a unit.
The team’s coach Thato Pieterse was impressed with the team’s performance and progress, despite the losses. She believes that these losses will help the team identify their weaknesses, improve on their shortcomings, and ultimately become a better team.

Pieterse expressed her satisfaction with the team’s efforts and said that they arrived at UJ sports courts ready to conquer and dazzle the competition.
“The ladies played well,” said Pieterse, “It was our first games of the league that the team played. This is a new team that is still getting to know each other and understand how they each play.
“Experience meets excellence on the court. To our over 40 players, you’ve shown resilience and skill in your first two Super League games, remembering that every match is a step towards greatness. Let’s embrace the journey, play with passion and set our sights on bringing home that W (Win).”

They still have more games to play as they still have to face Chipeya Black Diamonds, Kasie Rocks, Twist, Highlanders, Rainbow, and RD Foundation.
In addition to the Gauteng League, the club is looking forward to participating in numerous upcoming tournaments this year, including senior trials on March 16 and a match on March 23.

Furthermore, the club is actively seeking players who are either under or over 40. Those interested in netball can visit the club’s social media pages or come directly to the practice premises at Curro Sagewood on Fridays and Saturdays at 17:00 and 07:30, respectively.
