NYDA launches WhatsApp chatbot and webchat to engage with youth easily

NYDA launches whatsapp chatbot and webchat to engage with youth easily.

Over the years, the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) utilised various channels such as in-person consultations, telephone, and social media platforms to reach out to young people across the country.

While these channels have been effective to a certain extent, the agency recognises the need to adapt to the evolving communications preferences of today’s youth.

As a result, on March 19, the NYDA launched its youthful WhatsApp chatbot and web chat at its head office in Midrand.

NYDA executive chairperson Asanda Luwaca said, WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging platforms globally thus presenting a unique opportunity for the NYDA to engage with young people on a more personal and convenient level.

“NYDA has established a WhatsApp channel, with the aim of creating a direct line of communication where young individuals can seek guidance, access information about programmes and services, and engage in discussions on topics relevant to their lives,” said Luwaca.

Additionally, complementing the channel, NYDA is also introducing a WeChat feature on its official website.

The web-based chat interface will enable visitors from all walks of life, to interact with NYDA representatives in real time, providing instant assistance and support whenever needed, wherever they are.

This feature will serve as a convenient alternative for those who prefer web-based messaging over mobile apps or phone calls.

“Let’s really engage young people, let’s utilise this platform to be able to find solutions to the multiple challenges that young people face in this country,” Luwaca concluded.
