Local empowerment specialist hosts breakfast in Waterfall to foster women support
Katia Ribeiro, a Crowthorne based women empowerment specialist urge to women on the edge of depression, speak up and not let shame silence their pain.

In an attempt to ensure women support each other, a Crowthorne businesswoman and empowerment specialist Katia Ribeiro launched her website in style at Waterfall’s Olives and Plates Ellipse.
This took place on March 23 and Ribeiro said the aim of the women empowerment breakfast was to inaugurate their platform.
She said this initiate the formation of a supportive community where women collaborate to uplift each other and create an environment conducive to their success.
“It serves as a reminder to women that they have a voice and that seeking assistance in personal, career, and business matters, is not only acceptable but encouraged. By fostering this sense of unity and support, we aim to demonstrate that no woman should navigate her journey alone, and I am committed to walking alongside them every step of the way,” said Ribeiro.
The business woman-turn-author has penned two e-books which were made available on the website.
She said her books, Rise and Thrive: Empowering Women for Success stems from the profound influence of her late mother, while her second e-book, CEO Mindset: Transitioning from Employee to CEO for Women, stems from a lifelong aspiration to helm of her own business and escaping toxic work environments.
Ribeiro said the e-books serve as a guide to harnessing inner strength, fostering confidence in one’s abilities, and embracing worthiness to pursue and attain greatness.
“My journey transitioning into an empowerment specialist has been shaped by personal trials and resilience. Losing my parents at a young age forced me to mature quickly, becoming a guiding figure for my brothers amidst adversity. Enduring toxic relationships and work environments left me feeling isolated, without a support system to turn to. Struggling with my own mental health, I navigated through a debilitating state of depression, a journey fraught with challenges and loneliness,” said Ribeiro.
She said despite the uphill battles she came across, she persevered with unwavering determination, refusing to succumb to despair.
”Together we are one, women are the Nurturers of this Nation if we can stand in unity and help build each other imagine how this nation will grow. In life you can’t achieve something of such great magnitude alone. Let’s hold hands and pave way for a greater future. It start with changing one life at a time, it starts with us the seed has been planted, lets help it grow,” she added.
She said to women on the edge of depression, they are not alone and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but should not let shame silence their pain.
Reflecting on the session, Dr Pearl Makhwiting said the breakfast was inspirational. “I think I came here a little bit down and discouraged but the way Katia was speaking is igniting and very bold about how to uplift other women. It was an interactive sessions, and I am leaving here with questions as to how I can improve and empower myself and other women,” said Dr. Makhwiting.
Desiree Kaise said: “I am glad that I came, because more than anything, it opened my mind. I just realised that if we are women and we are in the same space, you always can walk away with something like empowering other women, which is important. I was called for action to empower myself and go back empower other women.”
