Watch: Blazing fire guts a Midrand factory in Glen Austin
EMS spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba said they will probe the cause of the fire.
The City of Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba said they received a call at 07:34 on June 4 about a structural fire in Glen Austin, Midrand.

She said three fire engines attended to the fire which was later contained so as not to spread to other buildings along Boxer Road.

“On arrival, crews also had to extinguish four vehicles that caught fire on the property. Witnesses have confirmed that everyone was evacuated, and no casualties were reported. Preliminary investigations will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire,” said Radebe-Kgiba.

She said it is during this season that EMS records an increase in structural fires and a high number of deaths caused by incorrect use of heating appliances.
Radebe-Kgiba said as the temperatures continue to plummet, residents are urged to use heating appliances correctly and never leave heaters and stoves unattended.
