This ribbon cutting ceremony marked a significant milestone for both the school and the community, introducing a vital facility that enhances the educational experience for learners.
The pool will not only help learners improve their swimming skills but will also be accessible to local residents, offering swimming lessons and aquatic aerobic classes for the community.
During the ceremony, principal Benjamin Moyo highlighted the importance of the pool’s opening for both the school and the surrounding community. “Today, as we celebrate this momentous occasion, the opening of our school swimming pool, we wish to ensure that this facility will benefit, not only our learners but also the dedicated staff members and the entire community around this area.

“This fantastic facility will provide our learners with a safe and enjoyable space to learn vital swimming skills, promote physical activity, and foster teamwork among learners. As Sunninghill Aquatics has pointed out, we are all aware that many of the drownings that occur during this season happen because individuals lack the necessary skills to swim and navigate through challenging water situations.”
Moreover, the principal expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders, community members, parents, and individuals who played a crucial role in making this opening a success.
Sunninghill Aquatics is a swimming school that caters to swimmers of all experience levels, whether you are a beginner looking to learn the basics, or an advanced swimmer looking to correct your stroke.
Liberty Chakanetsa, a representative from Sunninghill Aquatics, explained how the organisation offers affordable classes for both adults and children, starting from the age of two and upwards.
These classes are taught by highly experienced instructors, ensuring that all participants learn in a safe and supportive environment. Chakanetsa also expressed the excitement that Sunninghill Aquatics feels about this partnership with the school and its potential impact on the community.
“We are truly grateful for this opportunity to partner with Halfway House Primary School and introduce swimming to the greater community of Midrand. This facility is going to significantly improve the standard of swimming in our area, providing essential skills that can save lives and promote a healthier lifestyle for all.”
