Indlovu FC captain and coach eye ABC promotion in 2025
Inldovu FC coach Thato Legodi says the teams biggest test this season is to qualify for the ABC Motsepe League play-offs.

After solidifying their second-stint in the Safa Johannesburg Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League (Yellow stream), Indlovu FC’s captain and coach are optimistic about promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

Currently, Indlovu is third on the log tied with 23 points behind second-placed Super Rovers FC and two points shy of log leaders, Diepsloot Arsenal.

As the second half of the season will commence this week, The Elephants as Indlovu is fondly known, will be in action on January 12 against 9th-placed Apaa FC.
Captain and central defender Lukhanyo Mapeyi affectionately known as ‘Ntsimbi’ [Steel] for his solid defensive play, believes so far so good for the team.
“And I think that is why we are in that third position. However, I worry that we are conceding too many goals but that is a minor issue that we are working to resolve in this second round. I am hopeful and confident that come the end of the season, we will be crowned champions and get promoted to the ABC Motsepe League,” said Mapeyi
Coach Thato Legodi’s men have scored 22 goals and conceded 15 leaving them with a goal difference of seven.

They have played 11 games, won seven, drew two and lost two.
Mapeyi said his focus was to ensure that the team won the league and get to play in the ABC Motsepe playoffs.

“I think it’s because of the mindset we have as a team – we have a common goal that we want to achieve as a collective. I think I need to take ownership and leadership at the back because I believe if you want to win a championship, you must have a strong defence. That is what we need right now as Indlovu.”

Mapeyi said it would be a big achievement for them to showcase their talents to teams in the upper leagues and maybe have a few players scouted by those teams.
Legodi said the reason behind the team’s good run was that they always wanted to surpass the previous season’s statistics and that served as a motivation.
“Each season we should do better than the previous one and we know what to do to achieve that. I think the reason why we concede [goals] is because our game is evolving and new personalities are being introduced. So the only way is for the new players to adapt to our game model which requires maximum speed and agility,” said Legodi.

They will play second-from-bottom Prestige Football Academy on January 18 before locking horns with bottom side Soweto United Stars FC on January 26.
