Unlike other poorly attended AGMs, the house was packed this time around, while other residents attended virtually.
The residents voted to retain the entire committee of Judy Bird as the deputy chairperson, secretary Nicolene Badenhorst and Frans van Zyl as treasurer.

Mphatsoe thanked the community for the confidence they have in his leadership.

“We need proper road maintenance of our roads, and stormwater drainage systems to ensure that there is a proper control of our water. We are now looking at redefining Glen Austin, and we want community involvement because the future of how you want the suburb to look is in your hands as residents. Our area is conservancy-protected, so we do not want to lose that but we should be careful of what kind of development we need, without shipping out developments that are required,” said Mphatsoe.
Gara will partner with JoburgCan Community Action Network, which seeks to empower a network of community associations and businesses to ensure the responsible use of rates and tax revenues, along with good service delivery by the city.

He urged residents to report any illegal land invasions and property hijackings to the Sector 1 Crime Forum or police.
“Now that there is stability [in the city], we will be working very closely with the city. We want to ensure that our infrastructure is maintained and it is improved.”
