Dubula Stars eyes multiple league titles
With three age groups topping their divisions, Dubula Stars are on track for a season of triumph.
Rabie Ridge radiated with football excitement as Dubula Stars United boldly claimed top positions in the Midrand League Kanana Stream.
The township club, known for its grit and heart, has stormed into the new season with its U13, U15, and U17 teams all sitting at the top of their divisions – sending a clear message that talent and determination can outshine limited resources.
The U13 squad has been nothing short of dominant, collecting 21 points from eight matches, with seven victories and just one defeat. Their closest chasers, Lobisa FC, trail behind on 17 points from nine outings.

The U15s, who have been equally impressive, share the top spot with M Superstars FC on 22 points, though their rivals still hold a game in hand. Meanwhile, the U17s are keeping the pressure on, level with Lobisa FC at 10 points each after five matches, setting up a promising title race.
Despite the on-field brilliance, the club’s journey has been anything but easy. Head coach Sydwell Ramakokovhu expressed frustration over administrative and resource challenges that threaten to dampen momentum. “One of the challenges is that the SAFA Johannesburg portal has not been updating league standings. When children don’t see that, they lose motivation, but, what I like about these boys, is that they stay focused. They always come to practice, and they give their best.”

Working alongside assistant coach Dumisani Mmela, Ramakokovhu admitted the club still struggles with sponsorships, equipment, and proper kits, yet the players’ hunger for the game keeps them going. “It’s been a tough ride, especially with the U17s, who are at that adolescent stage, but this is their passion. Not all children will become engineers or doctors – some are gifted in sports, arts, and culture. We need to champion their skills in the right direction.”

The coach remains optimistic, insisting that Dubula Stars are strong contenders for multiple league crowns this season. “We are winning these leagues, most definitely. Our U13s and U17s in particular are on track, and even our rivals know it. We were underrated when the season started, but look at us now… We are sitting on top.”

Players like Njabulo Phiri, Blessing Skhosana, and Sbusiso Zulu share that same belief, determined to bring home silverware and make Rabie Ridge proud.
