Learners in Midrand discover the power of kindness at High 5 shows
A touring production is helping children beat anxiety and stress, as they High 5 for kindness, resilience, safety, bravery, and self-acceptance.
Curro Sagewood and Pinnacle College Waterfall became the latest schools to welcome the High Five shows, an interactive tour designed to spark conversations about mental wellness and everyday resilience among children.

The 2025 Johannesburg leg of the tour kicked off this month, and will run across schools throughout September and part of October, providing thousands of children, aged eight to 11, with the tools to navigate challenges in today’s fast-paced digital world.
Its focus is to empower children to embrace five everyday superpowers: kindness, resilience, safety, bravery, and self-acceptance.

For Grade 2 learner Ungawo Mjikeliso (9), from Curro Sagewood, kindness stood out as the ultimate superpower. “Kindness is my favourite superpower,” he said proudly, recalling how he once helped a lady who was on the wrong flight to catch the right one.
Another Grade 2 learner, Thato Nthongoa (7), shared a similar sentiment: “I enjoyed the High Five show… My favourite superpower is that I am kind.”
By weaving serious messages into engaging performances, the initiative makes learning about mental health approachable, fun, and unforgettable.
