Kaalfontein Engen garage robbed twice in 10 months

After being hit by eight men in December last year, the Kaalfontein Engen garage was hit again, this time by about 12 armed men wearing masks.

Ivory Park police have confirmed that heavily armed men, wearing balaclavas and gloves, robbed the Engen garage in Kaalfontein of an undisclosed amount of cash… Again.

This happened in the early hours of September 29, at around 02:50.

In December last year, the same garage was hit by about eight men, driving a white Toyota Quantum.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during that hit – leaving the shop closed for investigations to continue uninterrupted.

Ekurhuleni police spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela said, after this latest attack, the Ivory Park police are investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder.

“About 12 suspects were involved, 6 armed with firearms, and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.”

She noted that the types of cars used in this latest crime were unknown, and that the suspects were wearing masks. No arrests have been made yet.

Sekgobela concluded that police request anyone who may have information that can assist with the investigation to contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111, or report anonymous tip-offs on the MySAPSApp, which can be downloaded on any smartphone.
