Police yet to confirm arrests or injuries after New Road crime scene

While unconfirmed reports suggest a robbery or hijacking attempt may have gone wrong, authorities have yet to confirm whether anyone was injured or arrested during a late-night incident at a fuel station along the N1 southbound near New Road in Midrand.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests were made or if there were injuries following a crime scene that police responded to on the evening of March 4 at a fuel station along the N1 southbound near New Road in Midrand.

Emergency services and law enforcement officers responded to the scene at about 19:14.

According to information from sources at the scene, the incident is believed to have stemmed from an attempted robbery or hijacking that went wrong.\

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that a suspect allegedly jumped from the New Road bridge during the incident.

A firearm recovered at the scene following the incident at a fuel station along the N1 southbound near New Road.

The images received from the sources show a person, believed to be the suspect, lying on the ground and appearing to be injured. A picture of a pistol from the scene was also provided.

At this stage, the full circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and police have not yet issued an official statement confirming the details of what transpired.

Midrand Reporter contacted Mpho Tshetlhane, the Johannesburg District corporate communications coordinator, for comment. Tshetlhane said she is still following up on the matter and will provide an update once further information becomes available.
