Hijacked vehicle recovered within minutes in Ebony Park

Fast response from JMPD officers turns the tables on hijackers in Ebony Park.

Quick action by law enforcement officers led to the swift recovery of a hijacked vehicle in Ebony Park on September 15.

According to Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla, the Public Safety Department received a tip-off about a recently hijacked Volkswagen T-Cross.

Officers from the JMPD By-law Enforcement Unit (BMU) immediately responded and traced the vehicle to Finger Fish Street in Ebony Park.

“The officers found the vehicle abandoned with its keys still inside. It was safely recovered within 10 minutes of the hijacking report,” said Fihla.

The vehicle was subsequently handed over to the Ivory Park police for further processing and investigation.
