Man killed in a hail of bullets in Noordwyk’s Liebenberg Road identified as a taxi owner
Xolani Ngubane’s white Toyota Fortuner SUV was found riddled with about 80 bullet holes, according to the Midrand Police Station commander.
Midrand Police Station commander Brigadier Molefe David Tsotsotso said the driver of the white Toyota Fortuner, who was killed in Noordwyk on September 16, has been identified as Xolani Ngubane.
The 55-year-old is believed to be a taxi owner affiliated with the Alexandra Taxi Association.

Ngubane was driving the Fortuner when he was ambushed and killed in a hail of bullets on Liebenberg Road by an unknown number of suspects driving a blue Toyota Corolla.
The suspects then fled the scene and remain at large.
Tsotsotso said, “There were about 80 bullet holes on the victim’s vehicle. The victim was in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body. Emer-G-Med paramedics declared the victim dead at the scene. Approximately 40 cartridges were found on the scene; however, the type of firearm used could not be determined.”

Tsotsotso added that an AK-47 rifle was found in the victim’s car, inside a case.
“The AK-47 firearm was not used.”
Tsotsotso said the Taxi Violent Unit had been informed to probe possible taxi violence.
