Johannesburg Roads Agency appoints interim CEO after news of Tshepo Mahanuke's allegations.
Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) publicly announced on November 17 that CEO Tshepo Mahanuke will step down from his duties as he takes
special leave.
The decision to have Mahanuke take special leave with immediate effect was brought up by the board chairperson, Thabo Motloung and his team after allegations of Mahanuke’s credentials surfaced which is being investigated.
“The resolution reached was to place the CEO on special leave, effective immediately until the outcome of the reauthentication process is finalised. This reauthentication process is expected to be completed on the 30th of November 2022.
“This was deemed the most appropriate direction to take in order to allow for a fair process to be conducted by an independent firm,” said Motloung.
According to Motloung, a CEO has already been appointed for the role. He urges the residents of Johannesburg to be patient with the organisation as they await the conclusion of the investigation.
“A speedy but thorough process will allow the Johannesburg Roads Agency, the City at large and the multi-party government, to focus on fulfilling the urgent service delivery mandate that is before us, with little distraction,” Motloung added.
