Summerhill School SA set to reach new milestones in the coming year
Looking ahead to 2025, the school has ambitious plans, including a robotics programme, enhanced sports and arts facilities, and expanded community collaboration.
This year has been exceptional for Summerhill School SA, marked by achievements across its nursery, preparatory, and international college.
Each phase of the school contributed to a year of growth, excellence, and community spirit.
The nursery’s highlights include the 30-year celebration, commemorating three decades of nurturing young minds. The nursery continued to be a vibrant hub for early learning and holistic development.
It achieved record-breaking Grade 1 readiness results, preparing learners for success. The sustainability in action programme expanded the nursery’s Earth Project, promoting eco-conscious habits.
Introducing mini-sports and strengthened art programmes fostered creative development, inspiring imagination and enhancing physical wellness. Plans for next year include Lego stream robotics and a music curriculum to provide every child with a well-rounded education.
For the preparatory side, the Colour Fun Family Festival and Science Fair Expo showcased learners’ creativity. The preparatory ranked among the top 10 globally in the International Maths Online Competition, won awards at the National Poetry Eisteddfod, and displayed talent during cultural events like the Fly on the Wall Montage.

Sports highlights included the first family fun sports day, strengthening camaraderie among learners, parents, and staff through activities like sack races and tug-of-war. Several learners were selected for district sports representation, excelling in athletics, netball, and soccer.
The preparatory also organised a successful outreach drive, collecting 250 blankets and preparing 1 000 sandwiches for those in need, while enhancing collaboration among learners, staff, and parents through a thriving PTA, laying the groundwork for exciting projects in 2025.

The college experienced significant transformation and success, with learners excelling in Cambridge exams, and Sahasra Vure winning the Ambassadors Award at the Eisteddfod.

The Interhouse Swimming Gala and prefect selection process highlighted teamwork and excellence, while the matric dance and brunch celebrated the Class of 2024.
A moving memorial for founder Sonja Joy Morshead united the Summerhill community to reflect on her lasting impact. The arrival of new principal Viven Naidoo promises a dynamic 2025, with his leadership set to elevate the college further.
