Mohau Counselling Centres is committed to deepening its engagement with the Midrand community next year

As we move into 2025, the centre remains steadfast in its mission to combat abuse and support survivors.

As we look back on 2024, Mohau Counselling Centre stands proud as a beacon of hope and resilience in the fight against all forms of abuse.

This year has been marked by significant achievements and challenges, highlighting the importance of community engagement and the relentless pursuit of healing for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV)

Among the year’s highlights were two significant events: the corporate Mohau/Step Forward Against GBV Padel Day and the Fundraising/Networking Comedy Evening. These events not only strengthened community ties but also generated essential funds for the centre’s ongoing efforts against GBV.

Kathy Combrinck, CEO and counsellor at Mohau noted that the Padel Day was a success, with Investec emerging as the winner.

“We had the pleasure of two professional stand-up comedians, Linde Sibanda and Molokela Makola entertain us at our fundraising comedy evening.”
In 2025, the centre aims to deepen its engagement with the Midrand community to help break the cycle of abuse in the country.

“We believe that ending the cycle of abuse requires addressing its root causes. We plan to develop a perpetrator care programme in 2025,” Combrinck stated.

“We are committed to addressing trauma holistically and are excited about fundraising for a trauma bodywork area in 2025.”

The centre expresses gratitude to the Midrand community and surrounding areas for their support this year.

“We thank our courageous abuse survivors for allowing us to accompany them on their journey. We also appreciate the Step Forward volunteer group for organising our corporate Padel Day and helping us raise vital funds to continue our fight against GBV, abuse, and its associated trauma,” Combrinck added on behalf of the entire centre.

“2024 was a year of victories and challenges. Throughout it all, your support has been invaluable. We are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside you and inspired by your courage in reaching out during difficult times. We look forward to a future filled with healing and hope.”
