Rocking Future Career Expos visits SA schools, searches for Success Starter

Learners at three Midrand schools: Pinnacle College Waterfall, Curro Sagewood, and Nizamiye School Midrand, were buzzing with excitement, as they learnt about all the opportunities available to them as careers after high school from the Rocking Future Career Expo.

The 2025 Rocking Future Career Expos have kicked off with a bang, and are currently taking place at high schools across Johannesburg and Cape Town.

In mid-February, learners from Pinnacle College Waterfall, Curro Sagewood, and Nizamiye School Midrand were excited to explore various career opportunities.

The expos aim to assist South African school leavers in choosing the right career paths, developing skills, and finding employment amid the country’s high youth unemployment rate.

For 24 years, 3RC, the company behind the expos, has been guiding high school learners to discover the opportunities that await them after graduation. The 3RC team collaborates with top tertiary educational organisations to help students understand their options, and identify careers that align with their personalities, skills, and ambitions.

Last year, the 3RC team spent five months touring South Africa with the expos, visiting 231 high schools in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Gqeberha, and KwaZulu-Natal, distributing 29 423 Future Guide Magazines, filled with valuable information for matric learners.

Kay Cheytanov, 3RC founder, said: “This journey was nothing short of spectacular. The level of engagement from students and educators exceeded our expectations. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, arming the expo’s role in shaping future careers.”

The tour continues to inspire high schools in Pretoria, the East Rand, and KwaZulu-Natal from January to May this year, with participation completely free for learners and schools.

Cheytanov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, and announced the launch of a new initiative called: Success Starters. “What a fantastic start to our 2025 Rocking Future Expo tour. Thanks to the learners for such a warm welcome. We are also thrilled to have launched our brand-new initiative: Success Starters.

“All the high schools who have decided to join the Rocking Future team this year, have been invited to come along on this inspiring journey together with us, as we search for an exceptional learner who deserves to be recognised as our 2025 Success Starter Star.”

The initiative aims to highlight extraordinary students who demonstrate passion and dedication, including young entrepreneurs, talented performers, culinary creators, artists, sports champions, and tech innovators.

In April, a link will be shared on the 3RC website for schools to nominate one outstanding Grade 11 learner. The top 20 nominees will receive bursaries from leading private tertiary institutions, along with other exciting prizes.
