Johannesburg Property Company donates desktops and laptops to Midrand and Soweto schools
This donation represents a crucial step towards empowering learners with the digital tools needed to enhance their academic performance and prepare them for future opportunities in the digital economy.
In a strong demonstration of its commitment to corporate social investment and advancing digital transformation, the Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) has generously donated desktop computers and laptops to schools in Regions A and D.
This initiative equips learners with the essential tools they need to thrive in the digital age, with each school receiving 20 desktop computers and nine laptops, benefitting both learners and educators in their academic pursuits.

The handover ceremony took place on February 13 at Lekang Primary School in Centra Western Jabavu, and Tshireletso Primary School in Meadowlands, Soweto.
On February 14, Mikateka Primary School in Midrand also received its allocation of devices. A significant digital divide continues to exist between urban and rural areas, with disadvantaged township schools facing some of the greatest challenges.
Many under-resourced schools lack the technology and infrastructure necessary for learners to develop the digital skills essential for competing in today’s world. This disparity significantly limits educational opportunities, particularly in townships where access to computers and the internet is minimal.
Recognising this challenge, JPC is dedicated to bridging the gap and ensuring that learners in underserved communities are not left behind. This donation represents a crucial step towards empowering learners with the digital tools needed to enhance their academic performance and prepare them for future opportunities in the digital economy.
Musah Makhunga, acting CEO of JPC, emphasised the significance of supporting education.
“This initiative is part of the city’s efforts to bolster the education system. By utilising our available resources, we are ensuring that schools receive the necessary laptops and desktops. We truly hope this initiative will make a meaningful impact in supporting learners and assisting schools in effectively preparing learners to achieve their academic goals and succeed.”
Thomas Chauke, acting principal of Lekang Primary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation, remarking, “To the City of Johannesburg, thank you. This contribution will greatly benefit our learners.”
