WomenCans’ inaugural State of Women Address at Pere House was a resounding success
Sowa united voices across genders, bringing together change-makers and influential speakers for an open and impactful dialogue.

WomenCan proudly celebrated the resounding success of the inaugural State of Women Address (Sowa), held on International Women’s Day, March 8 at Pere House Midrand.
With more than 200 attendees, the event marked a powerful milestone in celebrating the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women across various fields.
By uniting voices across genders, Sowa brought together change-makers and influential speakers for an open, honest, and impactful dialogue facilitated by radio veteran Tbose Mokwele and women empowerment activist Olwethu Leshabane.
Leading with the message Your Voice Matters, the speakers provided insights while empowering women with tools, resources, and actionable insights to address critical challenges including the gender pay gap, wellness, financial empowerment, spirituality, mental health, diversity, and inclusion.
Speakers included Nonkosi Creatives founder Pamela Xaba; Vodacom HR director Njabulo Mashigo; and Old Mutual head of marketing and sales Linda Appie, to name a few.
Delivering her keynote address, General Riah Phiyega reassured women that their voices matter and urged women to make a difference and focus on lifting each other as they rise.
