Male suspect arrested by EMPD for possession of a hijacked vehicle in Rabie Ridge
While conducting crime prevention in the Rabie Ridge area, officers spotted a car with no front registration plate, and upon further investigation arrested the driver for being in possession of a hijacked vehicle.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) North Task Team arrested a male suspect in the Rabie Ridge area during a routine crime prevention operation on March 17.
Around 08:00, while patrolling Modderfontein Road, the officers noticed a silver Hyundai Getz that was missing its front registration plate.

According to an EMPD statement, the officers stopped the vehicle and performed a systematic check, during which they discovered that the license disc did not match the registration plate affixed to the rear of the car.

Upon further investigation, they found that the registration plate information corresponded to a Toyota Tazz, which had a case number registered at the Ivory Police Station.
“The 31-year-old male suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Rabie Ridge Police Station, facing charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle. He is expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court soon,” reads the EMPD statement.
