2 motorists and 1 biker behind bars for exceeding speed limit on R562 Olifantfontein Road
The EMPD appeals to motorists to always practise caution and to adhere to speed limits on roadways, as most road fatalities are caused by speeding.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) High Speed Unit Officers arrested three males between the ages of 35 and 55 for exceeding the speed limit in the Clayville area.
The EMPD said on March 18, between the hours of 05:00 and 07:30, while performing law enforcement duties on the R562 Olifantsfontein Road, officers set up high-speed monitoring equipment to check for compliance with the speed limit of 80km/h on that roadway.

“Officers pulled over a white Toyota Hilux bakkie, a blue Volkswagen Polo TSI, and a black Suzuki motorcycle, which all failed to comply with the designated speed limit on the R562 Olifantsfontein Road travelling at speed limits exceeding 80km/h,” read the EMPD statement.
The suspects were arrested, taken to Clayville Police Station, and are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon.
