Business owner in Glen Austin arrested for possession of stolen goods valued at R60 000

The JMPD TRU K9 unit received information about a robbery that occurred in Erasmia, Centurion, on April 16, along with details about where the stolen goods were hidden. Upon investigation, they discovered some of the stolen items, including speakers and an amplifier valued at R60 000, at a business premises in Glen Austin.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department Tactical Response Unit (JMPD TRU) arrested a business owner in Glen Austin on April 25 for possession of stolen goods valued at R60 000.

The JMPD TRU K9 unit received information about a robbery that occurred in Erasmia, Centurion, on April 16, along with details about where the stolen goods were hidden.

JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla stated that officers went to the specified location on Alsatian Road in Glen Austin.

“Upon arrival, they found the business owner and requested to search him and the property,” said Fihla. “While searching the premises, the officers discovered some of the stolen items, including speakers and an amplifier, valued at R60 000.”

The officers also asked the owner to review the footage from his business’ security cameras.

“The footage showed the goods being offloaded on the day of the robbery. The owner was arrested for possession of stolen goods and was detained at the Midrand Police Station,” Fihla added. “This is part of our efforts to ensure that criminals have no place to hide in the City of Johannesburg. Lawlessness will not be tolerated.”
