Midrand Sector 3 Crime Forum holds patrol at hotspots
Otto Ramokoka, Sector 3 Crime Forum patrol coordinator, urged residents to remain vigilant while walking following a spike in street robberies.
The Sector 3 Crime Forum patrolled in the sector’s hotspots on July 8.
Patrol coordinator Otto Ramokoka said they assembled for a briefing on what should be done and how.
“After the briefing, we proceeded to the major hotspot areas. We even stopped and searched vehicles that looked suspicious,” said Ramokoka.
The hotspots included 14th, Lever, Liebenberg, New Road, Boxwood Street and Vodacom Boulevard. They e also visited two hotspots in Noordwyk and Country View.

In recent weeks, Sector 3 has seen an unknown white VW Polo without a number plate driving around, and its occupants have been snatching phones and other belongings from people walking on the sides of the road.
Ramokoka urged residents to be vigilant when walking in the dark, as street robberies are on the increase.
“Our biggest appreciation to SAPS officers, TRSS Security Services and our patrollers,” he concluded.
