Sector 3 Crime Forum issues safety tips for residents following spike of phone snatching
Sector chairperson Dinesh Sookdeo said residents should remain vigilant, hide valuables where possible, and report any suspicious behaviour.
Following sporadic incidents of phone snatching in Noordwyk, which falls under the Midrand Sector 3 Crime Forum, forum chairperson Dinesh Sookdeo believes the crimes are planned, but victims are random.
Sookdeo urged residents to always be alert and aware at all times by being on the lookout for suspicious persons or vehicles.

Late month two incidents of phone snatching and attempted phone snatching were caught on camera. “Trust your instincts, get off your phone while approaching your vehicle or walking in the streets, as that makes you an easy target. Avoid being alone in the vehicle when driving at night. We also plead with motorists not to stop around hijacking hot spots or secluded areas,” warned Sookdeo.
He said, these incidents have plagued the sector, along with smash and grabs incidents.
