For local model Letumile Malandisa (20), ambition is not just a word but a way of life.

As an entrepreneur, student, mentor, philanthropist, and now, a Miss Gauteng Exclusive 2025 finalist, the Clayville-based model is determined to show that success is built on grit, not just glamour.

Malandisa is the founder of Natural Black Beauty, a hair care brand inspired by her own struggles with natural hair, and co-runs KG Balloons, a décor business, with her aunt.

“Entrepreneurship is more than income; it’s about impact,” she explained. “Through creativity and innovation, we can create employment opportunities and fight unemployment in our communities.”

Currently studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurship at Mancosa, she is also preparing to host the Kasi Entrepreneurs Seminar, a platform for local entrepreneurs to network, learn, and showcase their businesses. “The main topic will be marketing because every great idea deserves to be seen,” she said.

Her passion extends beyond business. Malandisa recently launched a clothing drive for orphanages and teaches modelling and pageantry to schoolchildren. “Pageants are not just about glitz and glam,” she said. “They’re about leadership, service, and standing up for something bigger than yourself.”

Becoming a Miss Gauteng Exclusive finalist, she said, was a dream turned reality. “At the beginning of the year, I had the pageant logo on my vision board. To see it manifest feels like growth and transformation. It’s not just a sash or title; it’s a journey of self-discovery.”

But it has not been easy, as juggling business, studies, and pageant responsibilities has tested her discipline. “The biggest challenge is balance. I’ve learned to schedule everything in advance, avoid procrastination, and manage my time wisely.”

Through it all, her family and community remain her anchor. “They’ve been my biggest supporters. Voting, donating, and cheering me on. I wouldn’t be here without them.”

Looking ahead, Malandisa dreams of expanding her hair brand into a full product line sold in major stores, launching a pitching competition for township entrepreneurs, and one day opening her own modelling academy.

For now, she hopes her journey inspires other young women. “I want them to see that success comes from hard work, resilience, and staying authentic. If I can do it, they can too.”
