Bombela and partners open doors to learning at New Jerusalem

The community gathered in joy as New Jerusalem Children’s Home marked the start of a new era in education with the addition of three brand-new classrooms.

Laughter, cheers, and confetti filled the air at New Jerusalem Children’s Home (NJCH) on September 4, as the home unveiled three newly built classrooms.
The project was a long-awaited milestone after months of hard work and a few funding challenges.

Funded by Bombela Operating Company, in partnership with The Abela Trust, Eazi Access, Omega Digital, and other generous sponsors, the project marks a major step forward in expanding access to quality education for the homes’ children.

One of the new classrooms has been designated for the first cohort of matriculants at Lanto Montessori International Schools in 2026, solidifying the school’s commitment to providing its children with a pathway to brighter futures.

Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, NJCH executive director Anna Mojapelo expressed gratitude to the sponsors. “Education is the most powerful tool we can give to our children. These classrooms are not just walls and rooves; they are places where dreams will be nurtured and futures will be built.”

The joyful occasion was attended by sponsors, community members, dignitaries, staff, and learners, who joined in the celebrations. Children in crisp school uniforms clapped and cheered alongside corporate partners as the ribbon was cut.

Bombela Operating Company’s relationship with the home dates back to 2023, when staff volunteers took part in Mandela Day initiatives that saw the refurbishment of classrooms and improvements to the home’s facilities. Since then, the partnership has blossomed into a long-term commitment to community upliftment.

Highlighting the importance of the new classrooms, NJCH marketing manager Hopkins Kaira said: “This investment is more than infrastructure; it is a statement of trust, growth, and progress. With these classrooms, our learners have the space to thrive academically and emotionally.”
