Grade 7 Market Day sparks entrepreneurial spirit at Midland International School
Economic and Management Sciences teacher Sandra Matangira says learners understand important business aspects such as planning and budgeting, among others.
Midland International School (formerly Midlands Primary and High School) proudly celebrated the success of its Grade 7 Market Day, an annual highlight in the learners’ syllabus under Economic and Management Sciences (EMS).
The event gave learners the opportunity to turn classroom lessons into real-life business experiences on August 29.
The school grounds came alive with a variety of creative stalls, where learners sold delicious treats, handmade crafts, and offered fun activities. Parents, teachers, and fellow learners eagerly supported the young entrepreneurs, making the day both exciting and educational.

“Market Day helps learners understand important concepts such as planning, budgeting, marketing, and financial responsibility,” said Matangira.
School principal Sharira Padayachy added, “We are extremely proud of our Grade 7 learners for making this Market Day such a success. It is a wonderful demonstration of learning in action.”
Ray Thenga, the marketing manager, added, “This event allows learners to step outside the classroom and experience what it means to run a business. The success of this year’s Market Day is a testament to their creativity and commitment.”
The event was not only a success in numbers but also in spirit, leaving both learners and the school community inspired by the power of innovation and teamwork.
