Midrand’s Arts on the Move brings creativity to the community

Parents and children alike are finding joy in Midrand’s new art hub, where creativity meets learning every Saturday at Arts on the Move.

For residents eager to explore their artistic side, a new creative hub has opened its doors in Noordwyk.

Arts on the Move, a community-driven initiative, is offering vibrant Saturday art classes where learners of all ages can discover the joys of visual expression.

Hosted at 9 Kiaat Street, the programme runs every Saturday from 09:00 to 14:00.

Participants can experiment with painting, pencil drawing, pastels, charcoal, and mixed media, all in a supportive, hands-on environment designed to nurture creativity and confidence.

The project is the brainchild of Meshack Mashathi, a passionate visual arts teacher at Midrand Primary School. With years of experience inspiring young talent, Mashathi envisioned a platform that extends art education beyond the classroom and fosters cultural expression within the community.

“Art is more than just a skill – it is a way of expressing ideas, emotions, and culture,” said Mashathi.

“By running these classes, I aim to give learners in Midrand the chance to develop their creativity, confidence, and problem-solving abilities, while also encouraging art appreciation in our community.”

Arts on the Move is designed to show that art is not just a hobby but an essential part of education and personal growth.

Both children and adults are welcome, with parents often finding the sessions as enriching as their children.
