Potholes still cause problems on President Park roads

After coming across many potholes on three roads in the suburb, Midrand Reporter contacted JRA to ascertain if plans are in place to fix them ahead of the rainy season.

Driving in the streets of President Park is an unbearable hassle, because of potholes that plague various roads. Stag and Brand roads, as well as Swart Drive, are riddled with potholes.

The Midrand Reporter came across these potholes on October 8, while driving in the suburb.

In June, Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) tarred and resurfaced various roads, including Jim Fouché Road, Pretorius Street, and President Road.

At the time, JRA’s infrastructure development HOD Kwazelela Mcetywa said a budget of R4.9m had been allocated to repair the roads.

On September 15, the JRA team was seen working on the corner of Modderfontein Road and Swart Drive, but when they left, they had only repaired a small portion of the road, leaving the rest still covered in potholes.

The paper contacted the agency, on October 9, to establish when, or if, they would be completing the repairs, and when, or if, the agency plans to continue repairing the other roads in the suburb.

Their comment will be added to the story as soon as it becomes available.
