Midrand shootout leaves one suspect fatally wounded
One suspect was fatally wounded after police and private security confronted an alleged airport-following gang in Midrand.
A suspected robbery in Midrand, following the victims being followed from the airport, ended in a shootout on December 20, when police and private security teams confronted a group of armed suspects.

One suspect was fatally wounded during the exchange of gunfire, while a manhunt has been launched for at least two others who managed to flee the scene on foot.
According to private security company Suburban Control Centre, the suspects are believed to be part of a gang involved in airport-following robberies. Preliminary information indicates that the group allegedly followed a passenger from OR Tambo International Airport using an e-hailing service.

The victim was reportedly shot and injured during the robbery. The suspects were travelling in an Audi A4 when they were intercepted in Midrand, leading to the shootout with police and private security personnel.
