Faith and hope inspire Midrand author’s latest motivational book

Glen Austin’s motivational author, Desmond Khumbuza, has released his fourth book, The Resurrection Power, a faith-based guide aimed at encouraging readers to persevere through life's challenges while inspiring a culture of reading and personal growth.

Local motivational author and speaker Desmond Khumbuza (43) is hoping to inspire hope, resilience and spiritual renewal through his latest book, The Resurrection Power.

The newly released publication is Khumbuza’s fourth book and builds on his growing collection of motivational and faith-based literature aimed at empowering individuals and communities.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the book, the Glen Austin resident said its central message is that believers can draw strength from the same power that, according to the Christian faith, raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

“The book reminds people of God that the same resurrection power is still alive and available today to transform, revive and empower believers in their daily lives,” he said.

Khumbuza described The Resurrection Power as a Bible-based guide that combines scripture with practical lessons and relatable stories to help readers apply biblical principles in everyday life.

“It is a book that anyone can read, although Christians will especially understand and benefit from its message. I wanted to take a big concept like resurrection power and turn it into stories and practical steps that people can actually live out.”

Born into a Christian family, Khumbuza said his own life experiences inspired him to write a book that encourages people not to lose hope during difficult seasons.

“I have seen many people give up when they are close to their breakthrough. This book is my way of encouraging them not to throw in the towel because suffering is not permanent. Sometimes your breakthrough is just around the corner.”

The publication follows his three previous books: God Loves Orphans, There’s a Light at the End of the Tunnel, and The Power of Positive Mindset.

Khumbuza said his journey as an author has helped him develop stronger storytelling skills while deepening the impact of his writing. “The experience I have gained over the years has made my books more powerful as practical guides for everyday life. I thank God for continuously growing my talent as an author.”

Beyond sharing messages of faith, Khumbuza believes motivational books play an important role in developing young people and strengthening communities.

“Reading increases knowledge, expands the way we think and influences how we respond to life’s situations. Motivational books can help people think more clearly and take positive steps forward.”

Looking ahead, he plans to promote The Resurrection Power through book launches across South Africa, motivational speaking engagements, school visits and community outreach programmes.

He also encouraged aspiring writers to remain focused on their dreams. “My advice is to work hard, surround yourself with positive people and protect your vision from negativity. The people around you can either build your dream or distract you from it.”
