Zulu did a short reading from her book, sharing what readers can expect from it. “This book was born from pain, but more than that, it was born from survival. Every tear carried a lesson. Every chapter carries healing.”
The launch brought together family, community members, and members of the media to explain the importance of the book, but also to enjoy their time reminiscing their childhood.

One of the attendees, and Zulu’s childhood friend, professor Zethu Nkosi expressed how it was beautiful to hear about their childhood memories, as they share a 45-year-old friendship.
“The launch went well. The programme was short, but straight to the point. It had me think of the time Zulu and I met, when we were just 15 years old at a youth skills programme. Having another best friend of hers talk about the kind, giving, and strong person Zulu is also made me realise that this book is indeed well deserved for her.”

As a nurse, mother, and facilitator, Zulu writes from lived experience, offering hope to those navigating grief, emotional trauma, and life’s unexpected storms. Through My Tearful Eyes is not only a memoir; it is a mirror for readers who have silently endured, and are ready to rise.

Another of her attendees, and also a childhood friend, Daphney Chonco explained that, after hearing what the book is about, she started understanding Zulu better. “This book really opened my eyes and made me understand Zulu’s pain more than I did before. I think because of her bubbly personality, a lot of us overlooked the fact that it could be her coping mechanism.”
The book launch was a success and a beautiful experience for Zulu’s family and friends.
