Emergency lanes on Allandale crowded by taxis

Regan Papenfus writes: Taxis' and motorists' habit of using the emergency lane has become a norm in Midrand.

Trying to get onto the highway in the morning in itself could be compared to playing a video game with all the other vehicles. As a law-abiding driver and citizen, I have to dodge other vehicles constantly while also waiting patiently for the traffic to inch forward.

Driving home is an even bigger challenge as people use the emergency lane, while avoiding to sit on a proper lane full of traffic like all of us do. People simply turn into your lane resulting in you having to slam on breaks, with them barely missing crashing into your vehicle. This blatant disregard for the law should not be tolerated.

Are there traffic officers who work in Midrand? I usually see one hiding in the bushes to trap speedsters on the R55 and the other one who randomly hides behind either a tree or sits in the donga on the road going through Kyalami to Lonehill. Surely we have more than two of them employed to make sure the rules of the road are adhered to?
